Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brant Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Connors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brant Murray is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brant Murray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Connors!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connors gets a clinch.

Connors has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Murray is trying to keep an underhook but Connors manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Connors tries to stand and escape but Murray is controlling the position.
Murray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Connors takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Connors lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Connors winds up and cracks Murray with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Connors trying to control from half guard but Murray is working away.
Connors is controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Connors is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Connors is trying to work for a kimura but Murray is defending well.
Murray wants to get back to his feet.
Connors thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Murray's head.
Connors lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murray is trying to stand up here but Connors is controlling him well.
Connors wants to free his trapped foot but Murray is holding on for dear life with his legs.
It looks like Connors is going to stand back up.
Connors trying to control from Murray's half guard. Murray has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Connors wants to stand but Murray is controlling his posture from full guard.
Connors trying to control but Murray is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Connors shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Murray is trying to defend but Connors finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Connors tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Connors works his foot free and advances to mount.
Connors can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Murray is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Connors controlling the position easily from mount.
Murray is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Connors dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Connors pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Connors just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMurray.

Murray gets caught flat footed, as Connors shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Connors stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Murray swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Connors sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Murray keeping moving, preventing Connors from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murray working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Connors.

Connors looking to sit in guard and control but Murray gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Murray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Murray tries to stand but Connors is controlling from the bottom.
Connors looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Connors not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Steve Connors has got the better of the ground game so far.
Connors is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Connors is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Murray trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Connors. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Murray loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Connors has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Murray's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Murray stands up over Connors, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Connors bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Murray's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murray wants to stand and escape but Connors is having none of it.
Connors is looking to stand up but Murray won't let him.

Murray scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Connors throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Murray was covering up waiting for the punch and Connors finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Connors is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Murray is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Murray working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Connors doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Connors manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Connors forces his way into half guard.

Connors decides to return to a standing position.
Steve Connors seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Connors misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Steve Connors is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Connors fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murray sprawls well initially but Connors persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Murray kicks off Connors and gets to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Connors fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Murray to the ground. Connors is now in Murray's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brant Murray will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Connors fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Murray, pushing him back against the cage.
Murray tries to pull guard but Connors holds him up against the cage and eventually Murray drops back down to his feet.

Connors has clasped his hands together around Murray's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Connors tries to stand but Murray is controlling his head.

Connors is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murray has escaped the position, nice work there.
Connors tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Connors thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Connors takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Murray doesn't manage to clinch there - Connors circles away.
Connors tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Connors gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Connors doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Connors prevents a body shot from Murray.

Connors turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Connors manages to end up in side control.
Murray tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Connors wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

You can see the frustration on Murray's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Connors fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Connors happy to just control the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Connors trying to control the position but Murray is working away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Murray is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Connors asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Connors decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murray is looking to escape.
Connors wants to pass to mount but Murray is defending the position.
Murray keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Connors stalling away here and it's allowed Murray to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Murray utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Murray has his foot on Connors's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Connors works his way back into a safe position though.

Steve Connors comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Connors has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
