The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lage.
Mcdaniel feinted with a counter takedown.
Mcdaniel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lage as he jumps to the side.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Mcdaniel for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Mcdaniel is pushing Lage up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lage dives in for a single leg takedown but Mcdaniel sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mcdaniel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mcdaniel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mcdaniel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mcdaniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mcdaniel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mcdaniel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mcdaniel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mcdaniel wants to work for an arm triangle but Lage is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mcdaniel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mcdaniel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Quinton Mcdaniel will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Denerson Lage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lage looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcdaniel is fending him off so far but Lage persists. Nope, Mcdaniel circles away and we're back to standing.

Mcdaniel's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Lage scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Mcdaniel manages to mount him!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Lage looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Mcdaniel! Submission of the night perhaps?
