PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Judo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by call to prayer. Judo has chosen Da Mystery of Chessboxin by Wu-Tang Clan as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Judo!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Judo shoots in and gets a takedown into Smith's guard.
Judo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Judo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Judo lands a couple of elbows.
Smith working a defensive guard here.
Judo throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.
Judo is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Judo is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Judo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Smith pulls Judo in close to prevent any damage.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smith has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Judo has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Judo lands a nice uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Smith.

Judo misses with a body punch.
Judo lands a hook to the side of the head.
Judo blocking some punches.
Smith misses with the head strike.
Judo avoiding damage.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Judo.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Judo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Judo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Judo won't allow Smith to sweep him here.

Smith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Judo controls the pace.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Smith wants to get back to his feet but Judo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Judo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Judo gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Judo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Smith was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Judo.
Paul Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Judo.
Judo checks a low kick from Smith.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Judo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Judo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Judo there as he acknowledges the shot.
Judo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Judo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Judo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but Judo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Smith has his hands clasped together around Judo's back. He's all about the action.
Smith is looking to control Judo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?

Judo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Judo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Judo works to advance to full mount. Smith defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Judo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Judo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Smith sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Judo.
Judo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Judo is working for a submission of some sort.
Judo is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Judo looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Judo trying to mount his opponent but Smith defends it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Judo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head.
Judo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Smith controlling the position for now.
Judo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Judo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Judo tries to control but Smith wriggling away.

Judo lands with some strikes.
Judo looking to control but Smith is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Judo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Smith is trying to escape the mount.
Smith wants to hold on but Judo pushes him away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Judo is landing with some decent strikes but Smith is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Judo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Judo wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely.

Jack Judo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Judo's guard.

Judo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Judo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Smith is defending well. Judo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Smith has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Judo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jack Judo!
An intense looking Jack Judo took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Can I get a Shucky Ducky Quack Quack?'.
Paul Smith was interviewed post fight and said 'It's at times like this, one must reach deeply into his soul,challenge his heart, feel new courage, endure the fuck pain and say 'FUCK ISLAM AND MOHAMMED WAS A PEDOPHILE''.
