Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Weiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Weiter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Knight!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Ryu Weiter has been cut.
Weiter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Weiter clinches up with Knight and pushes him back against the ropes.

Knight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Weiter has managed to clinch.

Weiter shoots in but no luck this time.

and Knight counters with a head kick that drops Weiter to the mat! Weiter scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knight shoots in for a takedown but Weiter shows good takedown defense.
Oh Weiter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Weiter has Knight up against the ropes in a clinch.
Knight looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Weiter decides to pull guard.

Weiter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Weiter tries to lock up and control but Knight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Weiter is wriggling around trying to escape.
Weiter wants to control but Knight is having none of it.

Weiter makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Knight fails with an attempt to clinch.
Knight shoots for a takedown but Weiter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Weiter drops down looking for a counter takedown but Knight sprawls and moves away.
Knight shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Weiter as he jumps to the side.
Ryu Weiter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Knight.
Knight tries to score a power double leg takedown but Weiter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Knight somewhat.

Weiter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Knight to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryu Weiter will probably get the nod.

Weiter looks for a takedown but Knight sprawls well.
Weiter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Knight paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Weiter is defended easily by Knight.
Knight throws a fast counter high kick but Weiter manages to duck under it in time.
Knight fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Weiter wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight shoots in but Weiter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Weiter throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Weiter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Knight drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
You can see the frustration on Weiter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Knight is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Weiter wants to control but Knight manages to buck him off and is now in Weiter's guard! Nice work there by Knight!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looked like Weiter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Weiter shoots in and drives through. Knight sprawls well.
Knight steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Weiter has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Knight is on him like a limpet, forcing Weiter back against the ropes.

Weiter misses with a takedown attempt - Knight sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Weiter tries to close the distance and clinch but Knight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Weiter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Knight shoots for a double leg takedown but Weiter sprawls well. He's pushed Knight's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Knight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weiter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ryu Weiter.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Weiter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
