Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Troy Hooper!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hooper jabs Gonzalez right on the nose. Gonzalez blinks but takes it well.
Gonzalez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gonzalez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad MMA LA Elite in the buildup to the fight.
Hooper misses with a wild body shot.
Gonzalez tries to counter with a takedown but Hooper is quick to defend against it.
Gonzalez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hooper.
Gonzalez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gonzalez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hooper throws an overhand right that lands on Gonzalez's shoulder, as Gonzalez tries to avoid the shot.

Gonzalez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gonzalez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gonzalez wants to control but Hooper is keeping him busy.
Gonzalez tries to score with some ground and pound. Hooper controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hooper controls the position for a moment.
Hooper is trying to control Gonzalez's posture but Gonzalez avoids it.
Hooper tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gonzalez lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hooper down.
Hooper tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gonzalez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hooper tries to buck Gonzalez off but Gonzalez is having none of it.

Hooper avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gonzalez.

Gonzalez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Gonzalez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gonzalez shoots in for a double leg but Hooper sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gonzalez misses with a body shot.
Gonzalez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hooper.
Gonzalez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gonzalez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hooper tries to avoid it but Gonzalez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hooper to the ground. Hooper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A little jabbing left from Hooper on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Gonzalez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hooper moves away.
Troy Hooper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hooper is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gonzalez.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hooper connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gonzalez's hands.
The fighters circling - Hooper throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hooper misses with a right hand

and Gonzalez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hooper!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Troy Hooper will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gonzalez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Troy Hooper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hooper misses with a lunging right hand

and Gonzalez counters with a single leg into guard. Hooper didn't expect that.
Hooper wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Gonzalez is in close to Hooper's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Gonzalez throws an elbow that misses. Hooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gonzalez's guard. Nice move by Hooper!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hooper scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hooper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gonzalez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hooper has managed to get both his arms back between Gonzalez's legs - danger averted.

Hooper is in close to Gonzalez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Gonzalez is trying to control the position but Hooper postures up.
Hooper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hooper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gonzalez is keeping the position for now.
Hooper throwing strikes but missing.
Hooper is looking to work some ground and pound but Gonzalez has wrist control.
Hooper working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hooper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzalez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hooper's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hooper sprawls well. Hooper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gonzalez gets slowly back to his feet.
Hooper lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hooper uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gonzalez.
Gonzalez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gonzalez darts in looking for a takedown but Hooper gets double underhooks and turns Gonzalez into the cage.
Hooper let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Hooper has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gonzalez is landing a low percentage of strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hooper lands a jab.
Gonzalez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hooper paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gonzalez fails to land with a series of punches.
A left lands for Hooper.
Nice uppercut lands for Hooper. That snapped Gonzalez's head back.
Anthony Gonzalez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hooper scores with a nice strike.
Hooper misses with a hook. Gonzalez ducked under it nicely.
Hooper throws a good cross that connects.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gonzalez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

A relieved looking Troy Hooper thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
