Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oskar Berg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Albuquerque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gustavo Albuquerque will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gustavo Albuquerque!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Albuquerque lands with a right hand.
Berg showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Albuquerque.
Berg went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Berg takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Nice sprawl there from Albuquerque as Berg shoots in.
Albuquerque's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Albuquerque duly obliges.

Berg gets a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Albuquerque.
Albuquerque lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Berg backwards.
Albuquerque misses with a short punch on the inside.

Berg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Berg dives in and grabs Albuquerque's left leg, looking for a takedown. Albuquerque pushes down on Berg's head and hops out.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Berg walks into a straight right hand from Albuquerque.
Albuquerque pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Berg back to the cage. Albuquerque follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Oskar Berg has been cut.
Albuquerque connects with a crisp jab.

Berg looking to score a takedown here. Albuquerque is defending well but Berg drives through and ends up in Albuquerque's guard.
Berg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Albuquerque works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Berg creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Albuquerque sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berg decides to stand up, so the ref orders Albuquerque to his feet.
Berg shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Albuquerque defends it nicely.

Albuquerque lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd cheers as Albuquerque lands an impressive looking overhand right. Berg doesn't seem phased though.

Berg thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Albuquerque is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Berg connects with a couple of short punches.

Berg drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Berg jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Albuquerque has Berg pulled in close to control his posture.

Albuquerque is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Berg defends well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Berg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Berg is in close to Albuquerque's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Berg postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Albuquerque is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Berg, into his guard.

We've been informed that Albuquerque has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Berg breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Albuquerque goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Albuquerque shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Berg eats them both and turns towards Albuquerque to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Berg throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Albuquerque was covering up waiting for the punch and Berg finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Berg decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Albuquerque, up you get!

Albuquerque has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Albuquerque has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Berg is working away from the top position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Berg is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Albuquerque won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Berg off his unconscious opponent!
