Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carter Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Scarpa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregory Scarpa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carter Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gregory Scarpa!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scarpa slips a jab and a cross from Martin.
Scarpa with a lazy takedown attempt
and Martin counters with a nice uppercut.
Scarpa tries to clinch there but Martin circles away.
As Scarpa looks to move away, Martin throws a big counter combo bu Scarpa just gets out of the way.
Scarpa fails with the takedown
and Martin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Martin throws a series of punches but Scarpa moves out of range.

Scarpa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Martin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Scarpa is looking to pass into half guard but Martin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Martin is in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Martin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Scarpa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Martin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Martin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Martin is nestled in close to Scarpa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Martin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Scarpa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Martin throwing shots but Scarpa is blocking nicely.
Martin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Scarpa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Scarpa is looking to control Martin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scarpa avoid being mounted?
Scarpa tries to get to full guard but Martin has control of the leg.

Martin lands with a punch from half guard.
Martin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Martin is trying to control. Scarpa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Martin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Martin stands up over Scarpa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Scarpa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Martin cracks Scarpa with a solid left hand.

Martin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scarpa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martin has managed to get both his arms back between Scarpa's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Scarpa is on top in guard.

Scarpa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martin tries to avoid it but Scarpa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martin to the ground. Martin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Martin counters with a series of strikes. Scarpa will be more careful next time no doubt.

Scarpa has Martin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Martin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Martin lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Scarpa backwards.

Scarpa shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Martin sends Scarpa crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Martin is motioning to the referee to let Scarpa up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Scarpa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Martin pinned against the cage. Martin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Scarpa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Martin feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Scarpa sprawling to the canvas! Scarpa rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Martin finish him?!

Carter Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Martin scores with a counter punch that sends Scarpa to the canvas! Martin smells blood - he's punishing Scarpa with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Scarpa has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carter Martin!
A relieved looking Carter Martin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
