Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Assassin Sokoudjou!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Sokoudjou does no damage.
Sokoudjou throws a series of punches but Dean avoids them all with ease.
Sokoudjou misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No luck for Dean with that takedown attempt.
Sokoudjou throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sokoudjou lands with a good body shot.
Dean fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Dean looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sokoudjou has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dean is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Dean has been working on his balance at Hilo Fight lab, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Sokoudjou.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Sokoudjou counters with a three punch combo that has Dean backing up. Dean nods at Sokoudjou to acknowledge the strikes.
Sokoudjou leaves Dean with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sokoudjou throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dean.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Sokoudjou.
Sokoudjou throws a right and a left that Dean avoids nicely.

Assassin Sokoudjou is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sokoudjou wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Sokoudjou fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Dean misses with a head kick.
Dean closes the distance and clinches up with Sokoudjou, looking for a takedown. Dean pushes Sokoudjou against the cage but Sokoudjou circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Sokoudjou scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and Sokoudjou counters with a big head kick but Dean shrugs it off.
Sokoudjou throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sokoudjou throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dean.
Sokoudjou fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Assassin Sokoudjou dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Assassin Sokoudjou's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Dean takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sokoudjou connects with an inside leg kick.
Dean gets the takedown into side control.
Dean will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dean trying to control the action but Sokoudjou is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sokoudjou throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Dean tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sokoudjou paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sokoudjou feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Dean crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
