Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Austin Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Jones!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams jabs at Jones's body.
Adams works Jones's body with a nice hook.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.

Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Adams's guard.
Adams definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Adams has Jones pulled in close to control his posture.
Adams looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jones shoots and misses
and Adams counters with a straight right hand.
Adams throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
Austin Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Austin Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Jones.
Adams throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily.
Austin Adams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Adams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Adams pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Adams works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like John Jones has been cut.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Adams.
Adams jabs Jones to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Adams bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Adams looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Adams pulls Jones in close to his closed guard and prevents Jones from doing any damage or advancing position.
Jones wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.

Adams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones passes Adams's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jones is trying to control. Adams wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jones passes to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams is looking to reverse the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adams is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Adams feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Jones sprawling to the canvas! Jones rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Adams finish him?!


Jones is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Adams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Adams didn't expect that.
Adams tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones seems to have recovered his senses.
Adams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

Jones wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.

Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Adams is retaining full guard.
Jones preventing the sweep.
Adams keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Adams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Austin Adams is winning the standup battle so far.
Adams connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
No joy there for Adams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Adams throws a big shot that misses.
Adams slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.

No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Austin Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Jones.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Adams, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Adams against the cage but Adams circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Adams lands with a good body shot.
Adams scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

That has opened up John Jones's cut even more.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
OH! Jones has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Adams smells blood and charges in for the finish! Adams unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Jones sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Austin Adams!
An out of breath Austin Adams thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
