PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen Sail Awolnation as his entrance music. On his way into the ring it seems that Edwin Evans has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Edwin Evans seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edwin Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Brown!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans gets a clinch.
Brown is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Evans breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Evans tries to move into range but Brown moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Evans shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brown napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Brown felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Evans tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brown knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Brown wants to get back to his feet.
Evans takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brown misses with a series of wild punches.
Evans seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Brown scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Evans fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brown avoids it really well and circles away.

Brown drops back, looking for a kneebar! Evans looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Evans looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Evans!
Brown is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Evans has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Brown is defending well but eventually Evans manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Brown has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
