Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Munk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derrick Carmichael !
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munk closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Derrick Carmichael has been cut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Carmichael drags the fight down to the ground.
Munk is looking to stand up but Carmichael won't let him.
Munk wants to control from the top but Carmichael keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Munk slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Munk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carmichael keeps working.

Carmichael tries to improve position but can't.
Munk in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Munk tries to control but Carmichael wriggling away.
Carmichael tries to reverse the position but Munk maintains control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Munk thowing shots but they're missing.
Munk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carmichael is looking to escape.

Munk looking to secure an arm triangle but Carmichael defends it well.
Munk looking to control and managing it successfully.
Carmichael avoids a series of strikes thrown by Munk.

Carmichael is trying to escape the mount.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Munk is working for a guillotine from mount but Carmichael frees his head quite easily.
Carmichael is in all sorts of trouble here.
Carmichael tries to lock up and control but Munk gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carmichael tries to buck Munk off but he can't manage it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carmichael holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Munk tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Munk looking to ground and pound but Carmichael is blocking nicely.
Carmichael is squirming around, avoiding Munk's attempts to control the action.
Munk controlling the pace for now.
Munk is landing with some decent strikes but Carmichael is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carmichael tries to hold on but Munk pushes him away.
Carmichael tries to reverse the position but Munk maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Carmichael gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Carmichael has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Munk has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Munk is trying to pull guard but Carmichael turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Munk misses with a punch to the body.
Carmichael lands a hook that snaps the head of Munk backwards.
Carmichael tries to break free but Munk pushes him back against the cage.
Munk jumps guard but Carmichael stands there with Munk around his waist. Munk gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Munk gets control of Carmichael 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Munk will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Munk working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Carmichael has passed into half guard!
Munk manages to get to full guard.

Munk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Munk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carmichael is one step ahead there.
Munk lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Munk not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Munk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carmichael is proving hard to escape from.

Munk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carmichael is keeping the position for now.
Carmichael working a defensive guard but Munk manages to pass into side control anyway.
Carmichael is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Munk's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Munk is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Munk tries to clinch but Carmichael moves out of range.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Munk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carmichael lands a body shot in the clinch.

Carmichael jumps into guard, dragging Munk to the mat.
Munk controls from within his opponent's guard.
Carmichael is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carmichael is breathing heavily.

Munk wants to control from the top but Carmichael keeps moving.
Carmichael is trying to control the position but Munk postures up.
Munk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Munk thuds a left hand into Carmichael 's body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carmichael looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Carmichael stays in close to Munk's body and controls the position.
Derrick Carmichael has got the better of the ground game so far.
Carmichael takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Munk looking for subs off his back but Carmichael has passed one foot through into half guard.
Munk tries to roll over but Carmichael keeps him under control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Munk tries to close the distance and clinch but Carmichael swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Carmichael gets a double leg takedown into Munk's guard.

Munk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carmichael gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Munk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Carmichael trying to control but Munk is working from the bottom.

Carmichael stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Munk is looking to clinch.

Carmichael throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Munk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carmichael is in Munk's guard.

Munk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carmichael can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Derrick Carmichael comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carmichael has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
