The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Derrite throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Flowers was covering up waiting for the punch and Derrite finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Flowers manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Derrite successfully pulls guard.
Flowers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Flowers wants to stand but Derrite has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Flowers postures up and lands a big shot to Derrite's brow.
Flowers throws a big right hand that misses.
Flowers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Flowers is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Flowers won't allow Derrite to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flowers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Derrite keeping moving, preventing Flowers from controlling successfully.
Flowers is looking to stand up but Derrite won't let him.

Derrite working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Flowers.
Flowers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Flowers works over Derrite with some ground and pound from guard.

Flowers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Derrite is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Flowers throws an elbow that misses. Derrite uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Flowers's guard. Nice move by Derrite!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Flowers wriggles free and stands up.

Flowers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Derrite did well to prevent Flowers getting side control.

Flowers in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Derrite tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Flowers!
