Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hans Gruber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hans Gruber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gruber scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gruber will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gruber throws a series of punches but Rogers moves out of range.
Gruber lands with a shot to the body.
Rogers moves in looking to clinch but Gruber pushes him off.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gruber swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rogers takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gruber misses the shot to the body.
Rogers lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Gruber fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Gruber moves into the clinch.
Rogers tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gruber avoids it.
We've been informed that Rogers has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Rogers wants to clinch up but Gruber keeps it at a distance.

Rogers lands with a kick to the temple. Gruber shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rogers takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Gruber just misses with a punch to the body.
As Gruber backs off Rogers throws a huge counter combo but Gruber manages to avoid it all.

Rogers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Gruber tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gruber looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gruber is keen to just control but Rogers is a slippery customer.
Nice strikes from Gruber there.
Gruber is pressing down on Rogers's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rogers is holding on for now.
Gruber is nestled in close to Rogers, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gruber is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rogers is just riding it out for now. Gruber eventually gives up the hold.

Gruber is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rogers is not content to let Gruber control the position.

Gruber shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rogers but Rogers pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Rogers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rogers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gruber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rogers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gruber is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gruber and Rogers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Rogers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ian Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hans Gruber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Rogers counters with a left and a right that stings Gruber.

Gruber shoots in looking for a takedown. Rogers tries to sprawl out of it but Gruber keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rogers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
