PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Rodelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davor Suker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Rodelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Davor Suker!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Topper Green and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It looked like Rodelin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Davor Suker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suker scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Suker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Suker's coach down at Beast Bar was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Suker's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Suker uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rodelin has time to react.
Suker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rodelin.
Nice uppercut there from Suker.

Rodelin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Suker jumps guard but Rodelin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Suker jumps guard but Rodelin stands there with Suker around his waist. Suker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Suker tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rodelin smiles and moves away.
Brian Rodelin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Davor Suker.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rodelin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Suker feints a counter leg kick.
Suker throws a leg kick which misses Rodelin's front leg but catches the back leg as Rodelin tries to avoid it.
Suker tests Rodelin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Suker feints a jab promting Rodelin to slip. Suker then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rodelin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Rodelin walks into a straight right hand from Suker.
Suker lands with an uppercut that bounces Rodelin off the cage and back into range.
Suker throws a body punch but Rodelin moves out of range.
Suker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suker connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Suker misses with a body kick.
Suker throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rodelin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Suker connects with a looping right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rodelin throws a quick counter head kick but Suker was just out of range.
Rodelin has his takedown stuffed
and Rodelin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Rodelin moves into the clinch.
Rodelin trying to land knees to the body.
Suker is trying to force a seperation but Rodelin has the dominant position.

Rodelin manages to break the clinch.
Suker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rodelin.
Rodelin is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Suker.
Suker misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Suker getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Rodelin misses with a takedown attempt - Suker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Suker thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rodelin if he has to take too many more of those.

Rodelin darts in and clinches Suker up against the cage.
Rodelin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Suker fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Suker is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rodelin had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Suker cracks Rodelin with an open hand slap.
Rodelin blocks the body kick.
Suker looks for the body kick but Rodelin saw that one coming.
Rodelin looks for a takedown but Suker sprawls well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Suker pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Rodelin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Suker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Suker struggling a bit here.
Rodelin gets to mount! Suker was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Suker gets back to half guard.
Rodelin wants to pass to mount but Suker is defending the position.

Rodelin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Rodelin takes one to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rodelin drives through and clinches with Suker against the cage.
Suker keeps control of Rodelin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rodelin turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Davor Suker dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Suker misses with a double jab

so Rodelin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Suker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodelin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rodelin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Suker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Suker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rodelin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rodelin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodelin won't allow Suker to get back to his feet.
Suker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rodelin controls the pace.
Suker has Rodelin pulled in close to control his posture.

Suker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rodelin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Suker.
Suker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodelin decides to stand back up. Rodelin steps back and let's Suker get back to his feet.
Suker scores with a body shot.

Rodelin avoids the head kick by Suker.
Suker throws a combination that misses

and Rodelin moves into the clinch.
Suker jumps guard but Rodelin stands there with Suker around his waist. Suker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Suker tries to pull guard but Rodelin holds him up against the cage and eventually Suker drops back down to his feet.
Suker is trying to pull guard but Rodelin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Brian Rodelin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Davor Suker.
Suker misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Suker fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Rodelin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Suker uses from the top position.
Rodelin pulls Suker in close to his closed guard and prevents Suker from doing any damage or advancing position.

Rodelin is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Suker rolls with it to try and escape but Rodelin cranks on the arm and Suker is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brian Rodelin!
Davor Suker was interviewed post fight and said 'nobody's perfect! we can lose and win, but this loss makes me hunger to train more'.
