PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Poole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blade Runner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Runner has chosen Smasher/Devourer by FEAR FACTORY as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Poole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Blade Runner!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poole thows a left - swing and a miss!
Runner takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Runner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Poole tries to avoid it but Runner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Poole to the ground. Poole escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Poole was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Poole tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Runner was well out of range. Poor timing from Poole.
Jab, jab by Runner - just one landing.


It looks like Will Poole has been cut.
Runner misses with a double jab
and Poole counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Runner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Poole to the ground. Runner is now in Poole's guard.
Runner works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Runner is looking to advance position but Poole won't allow it.
Runner throws a strike but Poole avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Runner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Poole preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Poole utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Runner looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Poole bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Runner's guard.

Runner is trying to keep Poole in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Runner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Runner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Runner misses with a left hand
and Poole counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Poole looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Poole lands with a thumping leg kick.
Runner throws a low kick but Poole moves out of range easily.
Poole connects with a body shot that sends Runner's belly button to the back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Poole cracks Runner with a good jab.
Poole dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Poole is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Poole connects with a body shot.
Runner misses with a takedown attempt
and Poole connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Runner looks winded!
Runner throws a sloppy head kick
and Poole counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Poole lands a really nice looking cross but Runner seems unphased.
Poole swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Runner drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Poole defends it well.
Poole thuds a left hand into Runner's body.
Poole feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Runner's calf.
Runner takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Poole sends Runner crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Poole is motioning to the referee to let Runner up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Runner is rocked!
Poole lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
and Poole counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Runner! He's just covering up as Poole starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Will Poole!
Will Poole decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
