Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Julian Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Part (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Julian Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Part!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Part wants to control but Reis is keeping busy.
Part is looking for a sweep. Reis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Reis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Reis wants to control but Part is keeping him busy.
Part is trying to get back to full guard.
Reis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Part with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Reis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Reis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reis wants to pass the guard but Part is defending well.
Reis misses with a head shot. Part uses the momentum to regain guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Part is on top in guard.

Part stays in close to Reis's body and controls the position.
Reis keeping moving, preventing Part from controlling successfully.
Reis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Part wants to control from the top but Reis keeps moving.

Reis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Part defends it easily.
Part content to stall in guard here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Reis wants to pass the guard but Part is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Part is trying to keep Reis in close.
Reis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Part swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reis stops Part from standing up.
Reis trying to control the position from guard on top but Part is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Part holds on and takes a little breather.
Part wants to sweep but no luck.

Part is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Reis looking to pass the guard.
Part is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Reis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Part gets a clinch.

Part turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Reis is looking to reverse the position.

A close round but Chris Part will probably get the nod.

Part doesn't manage to clinch there - Reis circles away.

Reis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Julian Reis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
You can see the frustration on Part's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Reis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Part works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Part looking to control.
Reis trying to control but Part is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reis misses with the combination.
Part is trying to counter with his kicks.
Reis shoots for a double leg takedown but Part sprawls well. He's pushed Reis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Part drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Part just content to control the position.

Reis prevents Part from improving position.
Part is looking to take a break and control but Reis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Julian Reis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Reis is pressed up against the cage. Part has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reis down to the mat. Reis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Part dodges the punch combination from Reis.
Reis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Part tries to avoid it but Reis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Part to the ground. Part escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Reis moves into the clinch.
Part tries for a takedown but Reis manages to get underhooks.
Reis is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Part is defending well.
Part misses with a hook to the ribs.
Part has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Julian Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Part.

Part manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reis manages to get himself to full guard.

Part wants to get up but he can't break Reis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Part content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Reis working a defensive guard but Part manages to pass into side control anyway.
Part wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reis keeps working.

Reis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Part sprawls well initially but Reis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Part is trying to get back to full guard.
Part is trying is best to control the position here.
Part takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Reis lands a nice short elbow.
Part is looking for a sweep. Reis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Reis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Part wants to get back to full guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Julian Reis.
I think Reis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
