PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Davie Brophy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chesty Puller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brophy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Proclaimers - 500 Miles. Puller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Your Going Down. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chesty Puller!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brophy bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Puller's head.

It looks like Chesty Puller has been cut.
Brophy's jab looks to have found its range, popping Puller under the eye.
Puller tries to clinch but Brophy is having none of it.
Brophy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Puller.
Brophy fires out a quick counter leg kick but Puller just manages to avoid it.
Puller misses with an uppercut. Brophy saw that one coming.
Puller scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Davie Brophy has been cut.
Brophy connects with a jab.
Sloppy strikes from Puller. Those never looked like landing.
Puller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Brophy dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Puller shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Puller is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brophy feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Puller's calf.
Puller is still on wobbly legs! Can Brophy finish him?
Puller lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Puller seems to have recovered his senses.

Brophy feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Puller sprawling to the canvas! Puller rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Brophy finish him?!
Brophy throws a body shot but no joy.
Puller appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Brophy fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Puller to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Puller looks to clinch but Brophy throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Puller taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

After the fight, Davie Brophy was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
