Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, L Manning Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William McDougal!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hines fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McDougal to the ground. Hines is now in McDougal's guard.
Hines pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDougal is keeping the position for now.
Our spies down at at Hilo Fight lab inform us that McDougal has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

McDougal throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McDougal wants to sweep here but Hines controlling him for the moment.
McDougal keeping moving, preventing Hines from controlling successfully.

McDougal has his foot on Hines's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hines works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hines stands up over McDougal, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've been hearing that Hines has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Hines drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McDougal dives on top into guard.
Hines bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McDougal's guard.

Hines won't allow McDougal to sweep him here.
Hines passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hines is trying to control. McDougal wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hines wants to free his trapped foot but McDougal is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McDougal makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McDougal.
McDougal controls Hines momentarily but Hines frees himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McDougal is looking to clinch.
Hines throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hines stuffs the takedown attempt from McDougal. McDougal gets slowly back to his feet.
McDougal stuffs the takedown attempt from Hines. Hines gets slowly back to his feet.
Hines will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
McDougal looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McDougal tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hines manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hines misses with a looping right.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A cross from McDougal lands.
McDougal tries to close the distance and clinch but Hines swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McDougal fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hines throws a right and a left that McDougal avoids nicely.
Hines misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Hines closes the distance and pushes McDougal back into the cage.

Hines breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hines defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McDougal.
L Manning Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William McDougal.

and Hines counters with a single leg into guard. McDougal didn't expect that.
McDougal can't keep his opponent in guard - Hines advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hines takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hines is looking to take a break and control but McDougal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hines rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McDougal moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McDougal is looking to clinch.

Hines stands and throws McDougal's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McDougal takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

McDougal is desperately trying to improve his position but Hines has a good base and remains in mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McDougal drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hines dives on top into guard.
Hines working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hines connects with a couple of short punches.
McDougal wants to get back to his feet but Hines is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McDougal is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hines is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but McDougal has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

I would not like to be McDougal right now.
McDougal covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
McDougal is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Hines off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Hines has both hooks in and is working for a choke. McDougal is in real trouble here. Hines gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, McDougal is tapping out! Hines wins by rear naked choke!
