Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Sorokov!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorokov swats away the attempt to clinch by Batyr.
Batyr connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sorokov's hands.
Batyr throws a combination that misses
and Sorokov counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Raiymbek Batyr has been cut.
Batyr on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Batyr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sorokov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sorokov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sorokov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Batyr throws a left that rocks Sorokov and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Batyr dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Sorokov regain composure!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Batyr stands up and beckons Sorokov to his feet.

Batyr has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Batyr dips a shoulder and cracks Sorokov with a mighty uppercut! Sorokov falls back against the cage and Batyr unloads with a barrage of strikes! Sorokov is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Batyr screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raiymbek Batyr!
After winning the bout, Raiymbek Batyr thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
