Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Klay Montez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). West has chosen The Game - 100 ft. Drake as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Klay Montez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew West!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montez avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
West connects with a single shot there.
Montez is looking to clinch.
West drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Montez defends it well.
West lands a jab to Montez's midsection.
Montez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from West.
West defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Montez.
West is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Montez tries to sprawl but West drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
West thows a huge punch but Montez dodges it nicely.

Montez tries to get to full guard but West has control of the leg.
West really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Montez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

West is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Montez defends it well.

West is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Montez is just riding it out for now. West eventually gives up the hold.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
West thows a huge punch but Montez dodges it nicely.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice sprawl there from West as Montez shoots in.
Good exchange - West coming out on top.
West moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
West moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Horrible takedown attempt by Montez or perhaps it was just good defense by West, which made it look bad.

West shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. West showed some decent athleticism there.

West looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

West is working for a submission of some sort.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The fighters are battling for position here. Montez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Montez wants to get back to his feet but West is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
West makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Montez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Montez scrambles and gets back to his feet.
West sizes up Montez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew West dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



West shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Montez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Montez wants to sweep here but West controlling him for the moment.
West postures up.
Montez wants to get back to his feet but West is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
West with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as West accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
West stands up over Montez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Montez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Montez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Montez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Montez moves in looking to clinch but West pushes him off.

West closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Montez quickly recovers to half guard.
Montez is looking for a sweep. West is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

West is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Montez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time West.
West thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

West with the ground and pound but Montez uses the opportunity to regain guard.

West working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Montez's head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
West cracks Montez with an open hand slap.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

West scores with a jab.
Montez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
West lands the left hand.
Montez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract West.
Montez sets himself, and West steps forward looking for the clinch! Montez avoids it this time.
Montez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. West tries to avoid it but Montez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag West to the ground. West escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klay Montez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Montez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and West counters with a nice body shot.
West stalks Montez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Montez's face. Montez staggers backwards, shaken.
West has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Montez throws a sloppy head kick and West moves out of range easily.
Andrew West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

West lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Klay Montez has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

West closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Montez has one foot on West's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Montez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has West pinned against the cage. West gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Montez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

West decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
West is trying to control the action in half guard but Montez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Andrew West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


West uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

West circles away from the clinch attempt.
West swats away the attempt to clinch by Montez.
West smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Montez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from West.
West swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Montez.

Montez tries to score a power double leg takedown but West sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Montez somewhat.

West lands a right hook to the body.
West lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Montez drops his hands momentarily and West takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

West feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

West throws an elbow that misses. Montez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in West's guard. Nice move by Montez!
West has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Montez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now West is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

West is looking to work some ground and pound but Montez has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

West scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Montez pushes West off and gets back to his feet.
Montez closes the distance but West moves to the side
and Montez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
West lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

West looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Montez has one foot on West's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Montez. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Klay Montez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andrew West is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
West tries to roll over but Montez keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andrew West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well West has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Andrew West spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
