PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rota Bope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Air (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rota Bope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Air!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Air connects with a high kick.
Air throws a sloppy head kick and Bope moves out of range easily.
Bope blocks a head kick by Air.
Bope really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Air misses with a head kick.
Air keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Air scores with a nice right hand.
Air throws a head kick but Bope moves out of range.
Bope lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Air swings for the body but Bope moves out of range.
Air thuds his shin into the meat of Bope's side.
Air motions for Bope to come forward. Air throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bope is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Air.
Air displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bope.
Bope shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Air but Air pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rota Bope. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bope feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bope seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Air is trying to control the position but Bope postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bope makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bope lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Air is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bope presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Air wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Air tries to break free but Bope pushes him back against the cage.
Air wants to get back to striking at distance but Bope won't allow it.
Air is trying to break the clinch but Bope is controlling him.

Bope jumps guard and drags Air to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bope not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Air throws a big elbow that misses.
Bope manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Air manages to get himself to full guard.
Air looks winded!

Air wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Bope's hips, looking to push off. But Bope grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Air screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!
