Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Fitzpatrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vigo Halk!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halk looking to score a takedown here. Fitzpatrick is defending well but Halk drives through and ends up in Fitzpatrick's guard.
Halk won't allow Fitzpatrick to sweep him here.
Halk wants to control from the top but Fitzpatrick keeps moving.
Fitzpatrick looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Halk throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Halk throws a strike but Fitzpatrick rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fitzpatrick's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Halk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fitzpatrick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halk is working an open guard so Fitzpatrick takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Halk tries to keep at a distance but Fitzpatrick has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Halk tightens his grip and picks Fitzpatrick up, before dumping him to the ground. Fitzpatrick manages to land in guard.
Fitzpatrick scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Fitzpatrick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fitzpatrick misses with a head kick.
Halk throws a counter combo.
Halk feints and as Fitzpatrick raises his hands in defense, Halk changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fitzpatrick is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Halk dives into side control.
Fitzpatrick struggling a bit here.
Fitzpatrick is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Halk throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Fitzpatrick sneaks back into half guard.
Halk tries to pass to full mount but Fitzpatrick defends it.
Fitzpatrick controlling the position well.
Fitzpatrick wants to get back to full guard.
Halk landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Halk seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fitzpatrick does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Halk throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Fitzpatrick keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Fitzpatrick avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Halk.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Halk.
Halk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Halk showed some decent athleticism there.
Halk looks winded!
Fitzpatrick is holding on to half guard well.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fitzpatrick makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Halk manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fitzpatrick on his heels. He'll look to pass Fitzpatrick's guard now, I'm sure.
Fitzpatrick pulls Halk in to control the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Halk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Halk throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitzpatrick pulls Halk in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Vigo Halk will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Halk throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fitzpatrick was covering up waiting for the punch and Halk finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fitzpatrick kicks Halk off and gets to his feet.
Halk drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fitzpatrick has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Halk has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Fitzpatrick is rocked!
Oh Fitzpatrick is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Halk successfully pulls guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fitzpatrick throws a strike but Halk rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Halk looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Halk gets to his feet and stands over Fitzpatrick, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Fitzpatrick felt that one! Halk unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Fitzpatrick from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vigo Halk!
