The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Vetrov misses.
Vetrov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson tries to clinch up but Vetrov circles away and keeps his distance.
Vetrov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Vetrov gets caught flat footed, as Johnson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Vetrov scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Vetrov throws a body shot but no joy.
Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.
Vetrov is looking to stand back up but Johnson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vetrov.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Johnson trying to control from half guard but Vetrov is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vetrov is trying to escape back to his feet but Johnson uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Johnson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Vetrov is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Johnson yanks on the arm and Vetrov is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Johnson.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matthew Johnson!
A relieved looking Matthew Johnson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
