Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Kubiak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Innes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kubiak gets the takedown into side control.
Innes is looking for a sweep.
Innes stops Kubiak from passing to mount.
Innes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Kubiak seems to be looking for submissions.
Kubiak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kubiak trying to mount his opponent but Innes defends it.
Innes wants to improve his position but Kubiak is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Innes holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Kubiak is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Innes has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kubiak trying to control from half guard but Innes is working away.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kubiak misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kubiak tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Innes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Innes connects with a nice looking jab.

and Innes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Kubiak shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Innes wants to get back to full guard.
Innes is pressing down on Kubiak's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kubiak wants to control from the top but Innes keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Innes controls Kubiak momentarily but Kubiak frees himself.

Kubiak content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Innes has locked up a guillotine! Innes's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kubiak is holding on here and Innes must be using up a lot of energy. Kubiak has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Innes gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
