The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds lands a body shot.
Bates on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Bates looks for a takedown but Reynolds sprawls well.
Reynolds has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Reynolds fails to land with a series of punches.
Bates tries a quick counter leg kick but Reynolds is wise to it.
Reynolds scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Bates clinches up with Reynolds and pushes him back against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Reynolds .
Reynolds prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bates prevents Reynolds from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bates tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bates avoiding damage.
Reynolds wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bates has him pressed against the cage.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Reynolds .
Reynolds tries to stall but Bates uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Bates tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jayne Reynolds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Bates.

Reynolds breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Reynolds lands a glancing blow to the side of Bates's head.
Reynolds connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Reynolds works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Reynolds sizes up Bates with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bates throws a combination that misses
and Bates takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Reynolds fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bates checks it well.

Bates is still on wobbly legs! Can Reynolds finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reynolds misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bates seems to have recovered his senses.
Bates walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Reynolds cracks Bates with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bates looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Reynolds finish him?
Reynolds throws a pinpoint strike between Bates's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Bates crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Reynolds scores a great knockout victory!
