Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Django Diggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Luigi Bates!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Diggs slips under a jab.
Bates moves out of range of the body kick from Diggs.
Diggs's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bates under the eye.
Bates dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bates tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Diggs swivels and escapes.
Bates takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Diggs.
It seemed like Bates was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A slow jab from Bates misses its intended target.
Bates uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Diggs lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Diggs lands a big head kick that sends Bates tumbling to the mat! Diggs takes a step backwards and waves Bates back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Bates is rocked!
It looks like Luigi Bates has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bates tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diggs was well out of range. Poor timing from Bates.
Bates is still on wobbly legs! Can Diggs finish him?
Bates moves out of range of the leg kick from Diggs.
Bates throws an off balance right hand
and Diggs counters with a solid body kick.
Diggs throws a pinpoint strike between Bates's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Bates crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Diggs scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Django Diggs!
During a confident post fight interview, Django Diggs thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
