PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Konstantin Manison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Toney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manison comes into the arena with Wherever I May Roam blaring out of the sound system. Toney is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Korn - Twisted Transistor. On his way into the cage it seems that Konstantin Manison has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Konstantin Manison seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toney lunges at Manison with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Manison's hand.
Toney doesn't manage to clinch there - Manison circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A swing and a miss from Toney.
Manison walks into a left hand.
Manison moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Toney misses with a takedown attempt - Manison sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Manison wants to land a leg kick but Toney is out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Toney. That snapped Manison's head back.
Toney fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Manison checks it well.

Manison jabs at Toney's body.
Toney moves in looking to clinch but Manison pushes him off.
Manison takes one on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Manison throws a body shot but no joy.
Manison circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've been told by Manison's head coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Toney tries to score a power double leg takedown but Manison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Toney somewhat.
Toney rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Manison moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Manison throws a right and a left that Toney avoids nicely.
Toney steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Manison.

Toney feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Manison kicks Toney off and gets to his feet.

Manison takes an elbow to the temple.

Manison breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Toney tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Manison swivels and escapes.
Konstantin Manison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Toney.

Manison gets caught napping as Toney dives in and scores a takedown. Manison manages to retain guard.
Manison pulls Toney in close to prevent any damage.

Toney avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Toney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Toney has gone for a leg lock! Manison slips out almost immediately though and dives into Toney's guard.

Toney wants to sweep here but Manison controlling him for the moment.

Manison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Toney swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Toney working for a triangle but Manison defends it easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Toney bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Manison's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Toney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Manison looking to hit a scissor sweep but Toney is one step ahead there.
Manison wants to stand and escape but Toney is having none of it.

Toney postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Toney pushes down on Manison's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Toney thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Manison's head.

Toney wants to work for an arm triangle but Manison is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Toney is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Manison is just riding it out for now. Toney eventually gives up the hold.

Toney is trying for a kimura here. Manison looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Toney wins by kimura!
