The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson darts in trying to clinch

and Gaines counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Well, if Gaines is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gaines takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jackson gets full guard.
Jackson controls Gaines momentarily but Gaines frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gaines pushes down on Jackson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jackson is trying to stand up here but Gaines is controlling him well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaines takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Gaines frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jackson is desperately trying to improve his position but Gaines has a good base and remains in mount.
Gaines tries to control but Jackson wriggling away.
Gaines looking to finish Jackson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jackson!
Jackson is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Gaines lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jackson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Gaines cracks Jackson with a solid left hand.
Gaines trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Our spies down at at The Factory inform us that Jackson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gaines trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gaines content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gaines is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Gaines has managed to sneak the leg through.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Gaines is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Jackson is hurt! He's hurt bad - Gaines fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Jackson from any more punishment! Congratulations to Gaines! Great finish!
