Grimwald comes to the cage accompanied by NoMeansNo - Mr. In Between. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustav Grimwald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jacob Koch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koch looks for the body kick but Grimwald saw that one coming.
Koch moves out of range as Grimwald strikes.
We've been informed that Koch has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Koch misses with an uppercut

and Grimwald counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Koch!
Grimwald tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koch wants to control but Grimwald postures up.
Koch on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Grimwald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Koch is not content to let Grimwald control the position.

Grimwald creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Koch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Koch is looking for a sweep. Grimwald is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Grimwald thows a huge punch but Koch dodges it nicely.
Koch is positioning himself well to prevent Grimwald advancing to mount.
Koch is not content to let Grimwald control the position.

Grimwald has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Koch holds on to Grimwald around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grimwald wants to control the pace but Koch is squirming around nicely.

Koch is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Grimwald is staying active.

Koch in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Grimwald lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Grimwald throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Koch because Grimwald loaded up on that one.
Koch wants to control but Grimwald is having none of it.
BOOM! Grimwald connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Koch is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Grimwald postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Koch badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Grimwald around the waist but Grimwald pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Grimwald is the winner by TKO! Grimwald jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gustav Grimwald!
