Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mellow Mood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zell Griever (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Mood. Griever does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mood punishes Griever's body with a nice straight punch.
Mood misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Griever.
Mood throws a body punch but Griever moves out of range.
A head kick by Mood misses
and Griever counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mood motions for Griever to come forward. Mood throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Mood connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like Zell Griever has been cut.
Mood tries to clinch up
and Griever counters with a nice kick to the body.
Mood jabs Griever right on the nose. Griever blinks but takes it well.
A chopping leg kick lands by Mood.
Griever lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Griever works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Griever lands with a hook. Mood tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looked like Mood wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Mood throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mood closes the distance looking to clinch
and Griever counters with a slapping leg kick.
Griever scores with a shot to the body.
Griever lands with a kick to the temple. Mood shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Griever has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Griever is looking to slow Mood down with leg kicks.
Mood throws a body kick that misses.
Mood ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mood fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Griever is out of range.

Mood lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mood with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Griever to score with a decent uppercut.

Mood tries to throw a body punch but Griever avoids it by throwing Mood back against the cage.

Griever lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Griever blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Mood misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Mood doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mood struggles to land a body shot inside as Griever controls his hands.
Mood scores with a knee to the head.

Griever tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Griever throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Moods head.
Mood tries to throw a body punch but Griever avoids it by throwing Mood back against the cage.
Griever lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mood or not.
Come on Mood - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Mood misses with a hook from the clinch.
Mood lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Mood content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Mood is leaning against Griever and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Mood missing with knees to the body.
Griever lands a left hand.
A body shot lands from Mood.
Mood works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Griever looks winded!
Mood misses with a punch to the body.
I was talking to Mood's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Mood pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mood lands a body shot.

Mood just misses with a punch to the body.
Mood throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Griever staying out of range there.
Mood cracks Griever with an open hand slap.


That has opened up Zell Griever's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griever throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mood stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mood throws a front kick aimed at Griever's knee but Griever avoids it well.
Griever takes a swing at Mood's ribcage but misses.
Mellow Mood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mood attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Mood lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Griever waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mood.
Mood thumps Griever with a low kick.
Mood throws a right hand that Griever ducks under and follows up with a left that Griever also avoids with ease.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Griever misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Griever throws the left hand but Mood avoids the punch easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mellow Mood will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Zell Griever's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Mood counters with an outside leg kick.
Griever takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
An inside leg kick lands from Mood.
Mood misses the shot to the body.
Mood scores with a spinning back kick!
Griever displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mood throws out the jab.
Griever misses with a head kick.
Mood tries a head kick but it misses.
Mood lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Griever fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mood has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Mood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Griever moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mood keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Mood counters with a nice body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mood misses with a straight left.

Mood jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Griever looks to score with a jab to the body but Mood is just out of range.

Griever changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Mood throws a leg kick
and Griever counters with a nice leg kick.
Mood is looking to chop away at Griever's legs.

Mood lands a left and a right that send Griever crashing to the mat, dazed. Mood thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Mood backing away here, and Griever unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looked like Mood was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Griever jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Griever throws a jab but it's blocked by Mood.
Mood works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


The cut above Zell Griever's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Griever scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mood throws the left hand but Griever avoids the punch easily.
Mood misses with a straight right.
Griever chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mood can pounce on him.
Mood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mood looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Griever steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mood.
Mood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Griever manages to avoid it.
Griever connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Mood lands with a nice combination. Griever backs away looking to recover.
A bone on bone clash there as Griever blocks the leg kick.
Griever now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Mood connects with an inside leg kick.
Mood is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Griever can do to turn this around?
Mood attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Mood swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mood throws a leg kick which misses Griever's front leg but catches the back leg as Griever tries to avoid it.

Mood misses with a series of wild punches.
Mood throws a nice inside leg kick.
You can see that Griever has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks
Mood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Griever throws a body shot but no joy.

Griever connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Griever moves out of range as Mood throws a body kick.

Zell Griever's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Griever scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Griever throws a hook but Mood blocks it.

Mood drops Griever with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Griever looks back up at him and smiles so Mood waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Griever is rocked!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Zell Griever's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mellow Mood!
A relieved looking Mellow Mood thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
