Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Pierno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bone comes to the cage accompanied by You'll Never Walk Alone. Pierno is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Umberto Tozzi - Gloria. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Bone!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Pierno!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bone scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bone moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Pierno slips under a jab.
Pierno tries to counter with a clinch but Bone shakes him off and moves away.
Bone throws an off balance right hand
and Pierno counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pierno tries to bum rush Bone with a series of wild strikes but Bone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pierno stuffs the takedown.
No joy there for Bone, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pierno tries to counter with a clinch but Bone shakes him off and moves away.

Bone fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pierno to the ground. Bone is now in Pierno's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bone is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pierno is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pierno has escaped and now he's on top!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pierno controls the pace.

Bone throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pierno escapes and throws Bone's legs to the side, diving into side control!

I was talking to Bone's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

That was a close round but Joe Bone did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
