Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arto Blomsten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrei Dunas!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunas lands with a straight right. Blomsten didn't see that one coming.
Dunas throws an off balance right hand

and Blomsten counters with a single leg into guard. Dunas didn't expect that.
Dunas is trying to keep Blomsten in close.
Dunas pulls Blomsten in to control the position.
Blomsten landing with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blomsten controls from within his opponent's guard.
Dunas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blomsten makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Blomsten thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dunas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Blomsten is one step ahead there.
Blomsten passes into half guard.
Dunas is trying to get back to full guard.
Dunas looks like he's trying to stand up.

Blomsten is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dunas defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dunas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blomsten is working away from the top position though.
Dunas regains full guard. Nicely done.
Blomsten works over Dunas with some ground and pound from guard.
Blomsten cracks Dunas with a solid left hand.
Dunas looking for a sweep. Not yet Dunas, not yet.
Blomsten passes Dunas's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Blomsten is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Dunas is looking to improve his position.
Blomsten has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blomsten winds up and cracks Dunas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Blomsten looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dunas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Dunas is defending against the submission attempts here by Blomsten.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Blomsten connects with a nice short shot to Dunas's temple.

Dunas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blomsten is working away from the top position though.

Dunas tries to land a front kick but Blomsten steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Dunas drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Blomsten counters with a takedown into side control.
Dunas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blomsten wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Blomsten postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Dunas is not content to let Blomsten control the position.
Blomsten gets to mount! Dunas was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Dunas manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Dunas is doing well to control the position and prevent Blomsten from advancing to side control.
Blomsten drops an elbow to the side of Dunas's head.
Dunas wants to control but Blomsten is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Blomsten throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Blomsten takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Blomsten lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Dunas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Blomsten is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dunas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dunas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Arto Blomsten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blomsten lands a nice hook to Dunas's body. Dunas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Dunas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dunas wants to get back to his feet but Blomsten is dominant here and he's now got Dunas's back!
Dunas is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Blomsten.

Well Blomsten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
