The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Gerson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gerson has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Gracie wants to improve his position but Gerson is controlling well.
Gracie is defending against the submission attempts here by Gerson.
Gerson is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gerson pulls his head out easily.

Gerson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gracie sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gracie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Gerson stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Gracie throws up his legs and catches Gerson in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Gerson tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Gracie! That came out of nowhere!

A determined Renato Gracie didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
