Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Mclovin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichi Takeshi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mclovin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Takeshi.
Takeshi fails with a takedown attempt.
Mclovin looks to throw the jab but Takeshi is out of range.

Mclovin throws a jab but it's blocked by Takeshi.
Mclovin has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Takeshi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mclovin.

Takeshi dives in and grabs Mclovin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mclovin pushes down on Takeshi's head and hops out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeshi goes for a double leg but Mclovin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mclovin continues to drive forward.

Takeshi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mclovin was covering up waiting for the punch and Takeshi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Takeshi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mclovin keeps working.

Mclovin has one of Takeshi's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Mclovin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That was a close round but I would say that John Mclovin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Takeshi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mclovin on his heels. He'll look to pass Mclovin's guard now, I'm sure.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mclovin holds on and takes a little breather.
Mclovin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Takeshi's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mclovin tries to counter with a takedown but Takeshi is quick to defend against it.

John Mclovin dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Mclovin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Takeshi tries to close the distance and clinch but Mclovin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mclovin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Takeshi.

Takeshi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mclovin sprawls well. Mclovin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Takeshi gets slowly back to his feet.

John Mclovin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mclovin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
