PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rancid Crabtree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durden's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Dust Brothers - This Is Your Life. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rancid Crabtree!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durden swings widly with a right hand
and Crabtree cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Tyler Durden has been cut.
Crabtree throws a body shot but no joy.
Durden fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Crabtree looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Durden misses with a low kick.
Crabtree scores with a jab. Durden acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Durden misses the target.
Durden throws a nice head kick!
Durden misses with a looping right.
Crabtree throws a leg kick but Durden sees it coming and moves out of range.
Crabtree looks to land a combination but Durden avoids it well.

Durden moves into the clinch.
A short left from Crabtree.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crabtree looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Durden has Crabtree pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Durden pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Crabtree tumbling to the mat - Durden dives into Crabtree's guard.
Durden is standing up over Crabtree. Crabtree looks to escape but Durden dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

You can see the frustration on Crabtree's face as Durden controls the position.

Durden is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Crabtree knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Durden takes a little break here. Crabtree wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Durden has knee on belly and moves into mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durden is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Crabtree can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Crabtree is controlling an arm, preventing Durden from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Durden jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Crabtree manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Durden remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Durden works to advance to full mount. Crabtree defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Durden takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Durden's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Crabtree can do anything to dispel that myth.

Durden fails to advance to Crabtree's back.
Durden controlling the position easily from mount.
Durden seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Crabtree for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Durden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Durden throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Crabtree on the side of the head.
Durden tries to clinch but Crabtree moves out of range.
Crabtree keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Crabtree looks to land a left hand but Durden moved out of range nicely.
Durden is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Crabtree can do to turn this around?
Crabtree misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Durden counters with a single leg into guard. Crabtree didn't expect that.
Durden postures up.
Durden is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Durden won't allow Crabtree to sweep him here.
Durden stays in close to Crabtree's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Durden keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Crabtree.
Crabtree throws a right and a left that both miss.
Crabtree is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crabtree takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Crabtree clobbers Durden with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Durden uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Crabtree.
Durden attempts a counter takedown but Crabtree avoids it well and moves away.
Durden lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Rancid Crabtree is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Durden cracks Crabtree with an open hand slap.
Crabtree tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Durden was well out of range. Poor timing from Crabtree.

Durden moves into the clinch successfully.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Crabtree wants to break free but Durden has control.
Crabtree wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Durden.

Crabtree escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Crabtree throws a series of punches but Durden moves out of range.
Durden looks to land a combination but Crabtree avoids it well.
Crabtree misses with the combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crabtree throws a right hand that Durden ducks under and follows up with a left that Durden also avoids with ease.
Crabtree misses with a body shot.
Crabtree gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Durden.


Crabtree is rocked!
Durden pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Crabtree is still on wobbly legs! Can Durden finish him?
Durden cracks Crabtree on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Crabtree falls backwards against the cage. Durden follows up with more strikes that drop Crabtree to his knees. Durden keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Crabtree! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyler Durden!
After the fight, Tyler Durden was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
