PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jens Kylling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kylling comes to the cage accompanied by Agonoize - Bäng Bäng Goodbye . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jens Kylling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taiki Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kylling throws a leg kick that is checked

and Aoki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kylling has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Aoki has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Aoki swings away with an uppercut that misses.
I was talking to Kylling's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Aoki misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Kylling breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kylling missing with a left hand there. Aoki was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Aoki tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Aoki shoots in but Kylling avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Aoki tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Aoki shoots in and drives through. Kylling sprawls well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Aoki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kylling but Kylling pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jens Kylling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taiki Aoki.

and Aoki counters with a single leg into guard. Kylling didn't expect that.

Aoki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kylling will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aoki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kylling really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kylling utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kylling wants to sweep here but Aoki controlling him for the moment.

Aoki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kylling's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Taiki Aoki will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Aoki tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kylling defends well and Aoki ends up having to push Kylling into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Aoki dives in and grabs Kylling's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kylling pushes down on Aoki's head and hops out.
As Aoki backs away, Kylling returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Aoki drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kylling defends it well.

Kylling throws a solid leg kick but Aoki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kylling.

Aoki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kylling defends it well.

Taiki Aoki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Aoki in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aoki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kylling as he jumps to the side.

I would just about give that final round to Taiki Aoki.
I've got Aoki winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
