The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez misses with an uppercut
and Velasquez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ishii slips a straight right by Velasquez.
Ishii ducks under a wild hook from Velasquez.
Ishii displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Velasquez throws out the jab.
Ishii is looking to counter punch.
Ishii shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velasquez but Velasquez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Velasquez scores with a nice strike.
A slow jab from Velasquez misses its intended target.
Velasquez thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ishii attempts a counter takedown but Velasquez avoids it well and moves away.
Ishii tries to score a power double leg takedown but Velasquez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ishii somewhat.
Ishii has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A relieved looking Satoshi Ishii thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
