Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Koulouraki Souvlaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudy Loens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souvlaki's entrance music is Greek Anthem. A fine choice. Loens has chosen Best UFC entrance of all time!!! as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koulouraki Souvlaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rudy Loens!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Francis DeMontford and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loens shoots in looking for a takedown but Souvlaki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Loens's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Loens shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Souvlaki sprawls well. Souvlaki wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Loens gets slowly back to his feet.
Souvlaki throws a jab when Loens was well out of range.
Loens closes the distance and clinches up with Souvlaki, looking for a takedown. Loens pushes Souvlaki against the cage but Souvlaki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Souvlaki drops down looking for a counter takedown but Loens sprawls and moves away.
Koulouraki Souvlaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudy Loens.
Loens drives through with a takedown into Souvlaki's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Loens drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Souvlaki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Loens has Souvlaki in his guard.
Souvlaki lands a couple of digs.
Souvlaki slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souvlaki makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Souvlaki's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Loens is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Souvlaki forces his way into half guard.
Loens is trying to stand up here but Souvlaki is controlling him well.
Souvlaki is taking a breather. Loens says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Loens is looking to escape.

Loens is in trouble now - Souvlaki has advanced to mount!

Loens's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Loens told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Souvlaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Souvlaki postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Loens in real trouble here! The ref calls for Loens to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Koulouraki Souvlaki!
