Filipowicz comes to the cage accompanied by Duran Duran - The Wild Boys . Gunji Koizumi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michal Filipowicz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunji Koizumi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koizumi looks for a takedown but Filipowicz sprawls well.
Filipowicz dips to his left and cracks Koizumi with an uppercut!
Koizumi looks to score with a jab to the body but Filipowicz is just out of range.
Filipowicz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Koizumi slips a jab and a cross from Filipowicz.
Koizumi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Filipowicz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Koizumi misses with a body shot.
Koizumi walks into a left hand.
A head kick misses from Koizumi.
Filipowicz looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Filipowicz darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Koizumi ducks right into an uppercut from Filipowicz.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Filipowicz sizes up Koizumi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Filipowicz throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Koizumi misses with a head kick.
It looked like Filipowicz was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Koizumi.
Filipowicz scores with a shot to the body.
Koizumi closes the distance and clinches up with Filipowicz, looking for a takedown. Koizumi pushes Filipowicz against the cage but Filipowicz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Koizumi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Filipowicz.

Koizumi misses with a body shot.
Koizumi misses with a lunging right hand
and Filipowicz counters with a left and a right that stings Koizumi.
Filipowicz paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
We've been told by Filipowicz's head coaches at School Of Fighting that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Filipowicz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Koizumi.
Filipowicz is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Michal Filipowicz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunji Koizumi.

Filipowicz lands a big head kick that sends Koizumi tumbling to the mat! Filipowicz takes a step backwards and waves Koizumi back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Koizumi is rocked!


It looks like Gunji Koizumi has been cut.
Filipowicz is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Filipowicz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Koizumi is still on wobbly legs! Can Filipowicz finish him?
Koizumi has a takedown stuffed.
Koizumi seems to have recovered his senses.
Koizumi has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Koizumi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Koizumi shoots in looking for a takedown but Filipowicz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Koizumi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Koizumi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Filipowicz tries to avoid it but Koizumi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Filipowicz to the ground. Filipowicz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Filipowicz moves out of range of the body kick.
Filipowicz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Filipowicz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Koizumi.
Filipowicz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Koizumi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Filipowicz thuds a left hand into Koizumi's body.
Filipowicz digs a good body shot into Koizumi's ribs.
Koizumi darts in looking for a takedown but Filipowicz gets double underhooks and turns Koizumi into the cage.

Koizumi throws a right hand that misses
and Filipowicz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Filipowicz misses the shot to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Filipowicz.
Filipowicz connects with a single shot there.
Koizumi tries to bum rush Filipowicz with a series of wild strikes but Filipowicz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Filipowicz moves out of range of the body kick from Koizumi.
Michal Filipowicz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Filipowicz misses with a wild combination.
Filipowicz scores with a nice head shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Filipowicz looks to throw the jab but Koizumi is out of range.
Koizumi shoots in for a double leg but Filipowicz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Filipowicz jabs Koizumi to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Filipowicz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Koizumi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Koizumi takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Some bone on bone action there as Koizumi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Koizumi takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Koizumi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Koizumi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Filipowicz circles away.
Whack! Filipowicz lands a heavy head kick that drops Koizumi. The ref tackles Filipowicz to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Koizumi was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Michal Filipowicz!
Michal Filipowicz decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
