PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Fredrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shepherd comes to the cage accompanied by Radioactive by Imagine Dragons Ft. Kendrick Lamar. Fredrick has chosen Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz: Throw It Up as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Shepherd !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ronald Fredrick!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepherd looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Fredrick misses with a takedown attempt - Shepherd sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Left hook, right uppercut from Shepherd .

Fredrick gets caught flat footed, as Shepherd shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Fredrick is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shepherd defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shepherd won't allow Fredrick to sweep him here.
Shepherd stands up over Fredrick, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fredrick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shepherd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fredrick seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Shepherd 's chin but Shepherd turns very nicely into Fredrick's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Shepherd .

Fredrick has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shepherd is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fredrick.

Fredrick has instead reached around Shepherd 's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Fredrick arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ronald Fredrick seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Jason Shepherd was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm disappointed in myself, the opponent outclassed me. There's no one to blame but me, only thing to do is head back to the gym and get ready for the next fight.'.
