The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from James finds it's way through Aharonian's defenses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Aharonian.
It seemed like Aharonian was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
James misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Aharonian.
Aharonian scores with a head kick. James tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Alex James has been cut.
James looks to land a combination. Aharonian sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Aharonian gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Aharonian has James pulled in close to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aharonian is trying to control the position from the bottom.

James drops back looking for a leg! Aharonian is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aharonian manages to kick James off! James jumps back into Aharonian's guard.

We've been hearing that James has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
James cracks Aharonian with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! James immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Aharonian is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by James!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex James!
Alex James made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'You know malaka, yes?'.
