Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerome Le Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toyoki Kawamura!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kawamura clinches with his opponent.
Banner can't get the takedown.
Kawamura tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Kawamura throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Banner blocks it with crossed arms.

It looks like Jerome Le Banner has been cut.
Banner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kawamura gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Banner tightens his grip and picks Kawamura up, before dumping him to the ground. Kawamura manages to land in guard.

Banner is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Banner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kawamura told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Kawamura is pressed up against the cage. Banner has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kawamura down to the mat. Kawamura avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kawamura tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Banner paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Banner seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kawamura for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kawamura wants to control but Banner is having none of it.
Kawamura is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Banner is staying active.
Banner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kawamura might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Banner continues to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kawamura lands a nice looking body kick.
Kawamura fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Banner.
Toyoki Kawamura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kawamura throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Banner changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Banner has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kawamura.

Banner turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Banner manages to end up in side control.

Banner advances nicely into full mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerome Le Banner.
I think Banner has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
