PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Estafan Atunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sven Gerber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerber has chosen Rammstein - Sonne as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerber throws a hook to the side of Atunes's head but Atunes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gerber throws a jab but it's blocked by Atunes.
Atunes throws a push kick but Gerber slaps the foot to one side.
Gerber connects with a looping right hand.

Gerber shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Atunes's guard.

Gerber drops back looking for a leg! Atunes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Atunes manages to kick Gerber off! Gerber jumps back into Atunes's guard.

Gerber throws a strike but Atunes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gerber throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Atunes escapes and throws Gerber's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Gerber tries to buck Atunes off but Atunes is having none of it.

Gerber is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Atunes manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gerber to take his back!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Atunes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gerber on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Atunes's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Gerber tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Gerber's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Atunes connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gerber scrambles back to his feet.

It looks like Sven Gerber has been cut.

Horrible takedown attempt by Gerber or perhaps it was just good defense by Atunes, which made it look bad.
Sven Gerber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Atunes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gerber has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Atunes escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Atunes!

Estafan Atunes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gerber has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Atunes should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gerber has tightened it up now! Atunes should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
