Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evan Payton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Tatarinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evan Payton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Tatarinov!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatarinov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Payton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tatarinov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Payton.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Tatarinov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Payton shoots in but Tatarinov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tatarinov clobbers Payton with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Payton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tatarinov throws a head kick that Payton semi-blocks.
Tatarinov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Payton.
We've been hearing reports that Payton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Tatarinov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice uppercut lands for Tatarinov. That snapped Payton's head back.
Tatarinov cracks the inside of Payton's front leg.
Payton darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Tatarinov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tatarinov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Tatarinov throws a right hand that Payton ducks under and follows up with a left that Payton also avoids with ease.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Payton rushes Tatarinov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Tatarinov throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Payton lands a shoulder strike.
Payton is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Tatarinov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tatarinov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Good exchange - Payton coming out on top.
Tatarinov throws a front kick that sends Payton stumbling back into the cage.
Tatarinov blocks the body kick.
Payton just misses with a punch to the body.
Payton sets himself, and Tatarinov steps forward looking for the clinch! Payton avoids it this time.
Tatarinov looks to score with a jab to the body but Payton is just out of range.
Tatarinov throws a solid leg kick but Payton takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Tatarinov.

Tatarinov has Payton up against the cage in a clinch.
Payton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tatarinov just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan Payton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Payton pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Payton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Tatarinov should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Payton has tightened it up now! Tatarinov should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Evan Payton!
An intense looking Evan Payton took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Good fight kid but no one has ever escaped a python. It is just a matter of time before they tap'.
