Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between German Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaudencio Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, German Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Valdez darts in looking for a takedown but Roman gets double underhooks and turns Valdez into the cage.
Valdez fails with a takedown attempt.
Roman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Valdez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Roman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Valdez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Roman misses with a wild body shot.
Valdez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Valdez shoots in looking for a takedown. Roman tries to sprawl out of it but Valdez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Roman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for German Valdez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valdez shoots in for a takedown but Roman shows good takedown defense.
German Valdez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valdez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Roman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Valdez shoots in looking for a takedown but Roman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Valdez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Valdez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Roman as he jumps to the side.
Roman appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Roman is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Valdez rather than just go for the knockout.
Roman clobbers Valdez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Roman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Valdez misses with a takedown attempt - Roman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A little jabbing left from Roman on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Roman has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Valdez is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Valdez shoots for a takedown but Roman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Valdez tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Roman is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Roman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Valdez sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Valdez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Roman's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Roman scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Roman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Valdez is keeping the position for now.
Roman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Roman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Roman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Roman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Roman slaps away a takedown attempt from Valdez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Valdez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roman.
Valdez goes for a double leg but Roman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Roman continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaudencio Roman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Valdez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Roman.
Roman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Roman leaves Valdez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Valdez shoots in but Roman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
German Valdez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Roman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Roman thuds a left hand into Valdez's body.
Roman slaps away a takedown attempt from Valdez, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A nice side step and Roman releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Valdez dives in for a single leg takedown but Roman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Valdez shoots in and drives through. Roman sprawls well.
Roman takes a swing at Valdez's ribcage but misses.
Roman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Roman pulls guard successfully.
Roman is pulling down on Valdez's head. It's preventing any offense from Valdez, at least for the moment.

Roman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Valdez defends it easily.
Valdez is looking to pass into half guard but Roman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Roman is in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Roman winds up and cracks Valdez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Roman seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Valdez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Gaudencio Roman!
A relieved looking Gaudencio Roman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
