Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fabian Shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dumaham Bijan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fabian Shannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dumaham Bijan!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bijan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shannon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bijan is in Shannon's guard.

Shannon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bijan decides to stand back up. Bijan steps back and let's Shannon get back to his feet.

Shannon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shannon is looking for a sweep.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bijan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shannon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bijan tries to avoid it but Shannon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bijan to the ground. Bijan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Shannon tries to keep at a distance but Bijan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dumaham Bijan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bijan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shannon, pushing him back against the cage.

Bijan gets control of Shannon's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bijan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Bijan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bijan has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Shannon is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Shannon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shannon is looking to stand back up but Bijan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Shannon.

Bijan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shannon has a takedown stuffed.
Shannon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bijan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shannon shoots in but Bijan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The referee asks Bijan politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bijan prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bijan fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Bijan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shannon sprawls well initially but Bijan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Shannon is trying to control but can't.
Bijan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bijan sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bijan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shannon is surviving well by controlling Bijan's body position as best he can.

Bijan unloads with some shots from mount but Shannon bucks and avoids them well.
Bijan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Shannon wants to control but Bijan is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bijan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Shannon throws Bijan to one side and escapes!
No joy there for Bijan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bijan blocks a head kick by Shannon.

Bijan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shannon is in trouble now - Bijan has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dumaham Bijan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Shannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bijan keeps the fight on the outside.
Shannon takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Shannon shoots for a double leg takedown but Bijan sprawls well. He's pushed Shannon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bijan tries to land a front kick but Shannon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shannon misses with a head kick.
Shannon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bijan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Shannon shoots in for a takedown but Bijan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabian Shannon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bijan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shannon to the mat! Shannon manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bijan tries to free his leg and advance position but Shannon is retaining full guard.
Bijan forces his way into half guard.

Dumaham Bijan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bijan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
