Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chopper Doom!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Thompson. Beautiful body shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Doom has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Doom looks to land a body kick but Thompson moved away.
A low kick from Doom is predictable there
and Thompson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Chopper Doom has been cut.
Doom takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Thompson blocks a head kick by Doom.
Doom throws the kick towards the body but Thompson avoids it.
Thompson lands a left and a right that send Doom crashing to the mat, dazed. Thompson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Doom is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Doom tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Doom is still on wobbly legs! Can Thompson finish him?
Doom leaves his chin hanging out and Thompson seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Doom crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Oliver Thompson!
