Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takamura Ippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn comes to the ring accompanied by Razorlight - Golden Touch. Ippo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Enforcer - Destroyer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jason Quinn has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takamura Ippo!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn misses with a lunging right hand
and Ippo counters with a straight right hand.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ippo.
Nice cross by Ippo.

Quinn looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ippo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Quinn puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Ippo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quinn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Quinn is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ippo has managed to free his arm - good work.
Quinn wants to control but Ippo is keeping him busy.
Ippo is controlling Quinn's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Quinn is trying to control the action in half guard but Ippo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ippo is controlling Quinn's trapped leg to prevent Quinn from advancing to side control.

Quinn uses his free foot to push down on Ippo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ippo.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ippo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Quinn is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ippo has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Quinn looking to control but Ippo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ippo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ippo is looking to improve his position but Quinn isn't that keen on the idea.
Quinn fails to advance to Ippo's back.
Ippo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Quinn with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ippo is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Ippo tries to hold on but Quinn pushes him away.
Quinn prevents Ippo from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ippo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ippo is working to get back to half guard.
Ippo told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Quinn looking to control but Ippo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Quinn controlling from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quinn looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ippo can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Quinn tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Quinn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ippo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Ippo lands a nice hook to Quinn's body. Quinn takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Jason Quinn has been cut.
Ippo is struggling to control the position.

Quinn looking for a takedown.
Quinn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Ippo to keep the fight standing.
Ippo tries a body shot but Quinn blocks it.

Still in the clinch, Ippo scores with a nice short uppercut.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ippo. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Quinn avoids the elbow strike from Ippo, against the ropes.
Ippo effectively controlling the action here.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Ippo creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Ippo stalling in the clinch but Quinn improves position.
Ippo misses with the head strike.
Ippo is struggling to control the position.
Ippo tries to work over Quinn's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

A shot in the inside from Ippo.
Quinn is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Ippo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Quinn blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ippo effectively controlling the action here.

Quinn manages to pull guard.
Quinn seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Quinn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ippo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ippo wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving.
Ippo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Quinn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ippo is one step ahead there.
Ippo wants to get up but he can't break Quinn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Quinn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ippo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Quinn pushes a forearm under Ippo's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Ippo is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
