Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Whitfield!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whitfield shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Whitfield passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mcmillan is trying to get back to his feet.
Mcmillan is looking to regain half guard here but Whitfield keeps moving and retains side control.

Whitfield tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mcmillan keeps Whitfield under control for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcmillan is trying to control Whitfield's posture but Whitfield avoids it.

Whitfield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcmillan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Whitfield trying to control the position but Mcmillan is working away.

Whitfield swings around for an armbar but Mcmillan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Whitfield's guard.
Whitfield has control of Mcmillan's left arm, preventing Mcmillan from doing any damage.
Whitfield is striking from the bottom but Mcmillan uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Whitfield pushes Mcmillan off looking to stand but Mcmillan dives back in and keeps control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Whitfield keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mcmillan in particular looking to stall.
Whitfield is trying to stand up here but Mcmillan is controlling him well.
Whitfield trying to get back to full guard but Mcmillan takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Whitfield is wriggling around trying to escape.

Whitfield is trying to reverse the position but instead Mcmillan has taken his back - oops!
Mcmillan is not going to allow Whitfield to sit and survive in this position.
Whitfield is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mcmillan is staying active.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Whitfield wants to get back to his feet.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Mcmillan controlling the positon.
Whitfield trying to control but not successfully.
Whitfield is trying to get back to his feet but Mcmillan has full control of the position and if anything, Whitfield has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Whitfield wants to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Whitfield drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whitfield throwing strikes but Mcmillan manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Mcmillan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mcmillan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Chester Mcmillan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mcmillan is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Whitfield looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mcmillan gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Whitfield is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mcmillan lets go of the hold and Whitfield can pop his arm back in it's socket.
