The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Kirks misses.
Hawthorne throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Kirks throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hawthorne sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kirks slips under a jab.
A jab from Hawthorne misses.

Kirks moves into the clinch.
A short right from Hawthorne.
Hawthorne tries to work over Kirks's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hawthorne lands a body punch.
Kirks tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Kirks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kirks throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hawthorne throws a body shot but no joy.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hawthorne, right into the meat.
Hawthorne misses with a looping left.
Kirks feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hawthorne's calf.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hawthorne swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hawthorne looks to land a right hand but Kirks moved out of range.
Kirks throws out a counter right but Hawthorne avoids it with no problem.
Kirks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kirks throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hawthorne.
Kirks blocks a low kick nicely.
Kirks has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hawthorne finds it's way round the side to connect with Kirks's head.
Hawthorne seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Hawthorne misses with a body kick.
A jab from Hawthorne does it's job there.
Hawthorne misses with a two punch combination.
Kirks jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kevin Hawthorne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawthorne dodges the punch combination from Kirks.
Hawthorne gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Kirks walks forward, straight into a front kick from Hawthorne.
Kirks is looking to clinch.
Kirks listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hawthorne thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kirks if he has to take too many more of those.

Hawthorne scores with a jab to the body.
Hawthorne lands a head kick that sends Kirks down! Kirks is flopping around the mat trying to get back up, leaving the referee no choice but to wave off the fight! Hawthorne is victorious!
